Joint Programs in Social Work Website Redesign
The Reason
The Joint Programs in Social Work website needed a complete visual and structural overhaul. The previous site followed a standard UNCG template, which didn’t represent the shared identity between UNCG and NC A&T. The goal was to merge both universities’ designs into a cohesive, accessible experience that clearly communicated the program’s dual institution partnership.
The Process
Research & DirectionGiven minimal creative direction, I analyzed both universities’ websites to understand their distinct design systems color, layout, and tone. I then explored how to unify them in a single, neutral design framework.
Design & DevelopmentUsing WordPress and custom CSS, I built a flexible site template that balanced both institutions’ visual identities while improving readability and navigation. I led the overall design process and built most of the pages, while another team member used my template to complete a few remaining sections.
Content Strategy & RefinementI streamlined redundant information, reduced unnecessary pages, and focused the layout on clarity and usability. The navigation was restructured to guide users naturally between programs, resources, and admissions information.
The Result
The new JPSW website presents a unified identity that bridges two universities while maintaining accessibility and consistency. The site has been well received by staff and visitors for its clear structure, modern look, and balanced design, making it one of the few program sites where my full design influence is visible.
